The DualShock 4 controller offers several new features that enable entirely new ways to play and have been thoughtfully put together with support from the developer community. The "Share" button allows you to easily share gameplay in real time via streaming sites like Ustream. There, other gamers can comment on games or even join and help out directly. Besides that, you can upload pictures or videos to Facebook via the "Share" button. On the front of the DualShock 4, there is an LED light that can shine in different colors to reflect the color of the character in the game, making it easy to identify a player. The colors can also provide useful information to the player, such as when the character takes damage in the game.
The DualShock 4 was developed in conjunction with a second peripheral, a camera (not included) that can sense the depth of the environment in front of it and use the LED light to determine the controller's position in three-dimensional space.
The DualShock 4 offers a touchpad on its front and thus a new input method. In addition, there is a built-in speaker and a headset port to transmit high-class sound effects from the games. With the help of a headset (not included), you can chat with your friends during online gaming and hear sound effects from the controller. The DualShock 4 adapts the familiar shape of the DualShock 3 wireless controller and offers some key improvements:
- A new, highly sensitive SIXAXIS sensor enables first-class motion control.
- Dual analog sticks have been improved to provide greater precision, better surface material, and an improved shape for even more precise control.
- The L2/R2 buttons on top of the controller have been rounded and are now easier and smoother to use.
- A new "Options" button combines the functions of the "Select" and "Start" buttons on the DualShock 3 to control in-game menus.
